Cary Road Race 5 Miler

The 41st Annual Cary Road Race is one of the area’s oldest events annually drawing over 1,000 entrants.

The event takes place in Downtown Cary, starting and finishing at the Downtown Park at the corner of Dry Avenue and Academy Street.  In addition to the two races the event features food trucks, live bands, local beer and more.  The longest event of the day will be a 5-Mile race replacing the 10K run in past years.  The race is managed by Town of Cary Parks, Recreational and Cultural Resources

In April of 2018, Seth Hutchinson won the 5-Miler in 26:16 and Rita Dorry (31:48) was the overall winner in the women’s competition. Since this was the first year this event had been run, both times are course records

In the 5K Alan Freeman won that race after covering the course in 18:00. Brennan Liming was the top woman finisher in 18:59. Since that year was the first time that course had been run, they are both the new course marks in the 5K.

Unlike last year where both races started at the same time, in 2019, the 5 Miler will begin at 8;30 am and the 5K at 8:45 am.

The entry fee is $25 up to and including April 2.  T-shirts are an additional $10.
